NUS
- Verity
NUS studies the clients’ profile in terms of their
consumption by supply point, seasonal variation in consumption, rate charged by
the supplier(s), possible saving by going to the other supplier(s), local
rules, regulations and tax structure, etc. to find out possibility of savings.
It generally charges fixed service/retainer fee plus share of the savings
earned due to its recommendations for its services. The project was aimed at
creating a decision support and administrative maintenance system for National
Utility Services. The project was based on n-tier architecture with clear
physical and logical segregation of the various layers, viz. the
user-interface, the business logic layer and the database(s). The project was
divided into fifteen different modules that were further subdivided into
component parts. Oracle 8.1.6 was used as the database and all data-centric
operations were performed via stored procedures being called by middle layers.
All database operations were carried out through a single common data layer.
Very high security requirements were also implemented in this project.Component Services was used for resource
pooling.

EBS (Electronic Brokerage System)
Was involved in the design and development of
prototype electronic brokerage system.
EBS was developed to facilitate the clients to do
secure online trading. The system will gather information about the trading and
other transactions entered by users. It then periodically connects to the Hong
Kong Depository database to complete the transactions. The project was based on
three tier architecture with browser based front-end and VB/COM as the middle
tier with MS SQL Server 6.5 as the backend database. Interfaces were also
developed to communicate with the Depository database. The customers were
provided with additional facilities like personalized portfolios and e-mail
accounts.

NSDL (National Securities
Depository Ltd.),
DPM (Depository Participant Module)
PMS (Problem Management System)
DPM:
User interface was needed for the clients to handle
regular system operations like Backup, Message queue checking, BOD and EOD
messages. Graphical Interface for System Management Operations (GISMO) was
provided to the clients for that purpose.
For querying the SQL Servers located on client
sites, remote login was used. Successfully completed the task of linking these
servers to main server at NSDL so that the need for remote login is eliminated.
Once the server is selected, the queries are entered with the regular syntax
and results are obtained in grid format. Parsing of the query to match appropriate
version of SQL Server syntax is handled by the underneath system.
PMS:
Problem Management System was developed to resolve
problems reported by the clients of NSDL and record solutions provided to them.
This system provides all the logs and tickets for problems reported. The system
offers ‘Text Search’ facility using keywords entered.
Problems like deadlock or attempt to violate unique
constraint are frequently reported. Developed scripts to automate the solution
for such problems. This solution works for a list of about 20 predefined
problems. The only action required is firing of appropriate script. The action
taken or comments are returned back as result.
Responsibilities:
·
Developed GUI in Visual Basic for GISMO (DPM) module with code in VB 5.0.
·
Developed Backup module.
·
Wrote stored procedures in MS SQL Server. Linked MS SQL Servers located
on client sites to main Server at NSDL.
·
Used the concept of linked servers and MSDTC for implementing the
above- mentioned task.
·
Developed the GUI in Visual Basic that allows the user to select
required server from a drop down list to connect to that server.
·
Wrote SQL scripts which collect the necessary information from
corresponding tables and automatically resolve problems like deadlock,
settlement number not found, pledge id not found.
·
Defined guidelines of Visual Basic coding standards for the group.
·
Provided technical support to the group.
·
Developed GUI in Visual Basic for PMS.
·
Did the Housekeeping Activities (re-indexing and truncating intermediate
transaction tables) on the client databases.

connection and
Developed an ActiveX Control in Visual Basic 5.0,
which allows selecting a particular table from the database in the drop down
box. For this table name of columns are shown to user and user can select the
specific columns and query the database and get the results for those columns
only.
